Haven’t had this long enough to comment on life-span, but it went into a socket formerly occupied by a halogen bulb in a desk-lamp, and it’s a huge improvement. The old bulb naturally made the fixture itself hot enough it could burn you, and given that it’s close to the work surface it’s the perfect amount of light – the bright white color is ideal for illuminating reading material.

I’m sure as summer arrives the fact it runs so much cooler will be an even bigger plus. These may not be the right solution in an overhead track setting, but on the desk there’s really no contest.

On the whole I’m entirely satisfied, particularly since I’m a PRIME customer which makes shipping cost a negligible issue in my mind.
1.5 watts is not bright enough

This is a 1.5 watt bulb with a slight bluish tint. It is NOT bright enough to replace an incandescent bulb in track lighting.
Not a good halogen replacement

The color tint is very blue and it produces much less light than the halogen it was bought to replace.
